Making The Most Of It
In response to concerns raised by farmers about milk price uncertainty, the WestVic Dairy Extension Committee organised a series of field days across the South West in mid June 2009.
Sessions were run at Mt Gambier, Warrnambool, Mepunga, Colac and Princetown with 280 farmers and service providers attending. Feedback from those who attended was very positive with over 95% of those scoring the events as “very-extremely informative and glad I didn’t miss it”
The committee organised the Warrnambool session to be filmed so that farmers and other service providers who couldn’t attend a field day could hear the excellent talks by the top speakers at a more convenient time. Hence the talks are available for on-demand streaming here.
Speaker 1 is Max Roberts, Chairman Dairy Australia, giving an industry update.
Speaker 2 is Private Consultant John Mulvany on understanding how your business works and managing through periods of uncertainty.
Speaker 3 is local farmer and DEC board member Phil Keegan sharing his plans and tips for the next 12 months and beyond.
Speaker 4 is Merryl Arnold, Community nurse and now school based nurse at both Brauer and Warrnambool Colleges on how to keep work and family life in balance and have a good laugh while you are at it.
