The yield data is derived from the average of 3 cuts per demonstration plot, of which there is only one plot for each species or variety. To be scientifically robust, several plots of each species/variety would need to be sown separately in scientifically replicated plots to overcome paddock variation. A representative harvesting system would also be used to reasonably accurately reflect the plot yields. This requires much labour and money.

The yield data is supplied only to provide a rough idea of what the crop looks like at these yields and perhaps may show a trend of sorts. The real value from these demonstration plots is the discussion in the paddock with other farmers and service providers.
